Alan & Winkie Steer
Alan is a third-generation shell fisherman, having had the business passed down to him by his father Winkie who is now semi-retired. The Steers provide us with top quality seafood, delivered daily to our door. Alan specialises in trawling lobster and crab and his hand dived Beesands scallops are some of the best out there.
During the summer months, there is an abundance of mackerel and seabass in the Bay which also gets delivered straight to the pub doors.
Alan fishes sustainably with any undersized specimens or females with eggs immediately returned to the water. Sustainability is a priority and under The Inshore Potting Agreement (IPA) he has his set area which he maintains to ensure healthy stock levels and good catches.

Salcombe Gin
The multi-award-winning gin is distilled and crafted in Salcombe. Inspired by the coastline and the shipbuilding heritage of the popular seaside town, Salcombe Distilling Co. creates its exceptional gin at its waterside distillery, one of the world’s only distilleries directly accessible by boat.
As a nod to the history of the sailing vessels bringing in fresh fruits and spices from around the world to England’s ports, they harness the essence of this by using only the finest citrus fruits and spices to flavour their gin.
We stock a variety of their popular gins including the original Start Point, their Rosé Sainte Marie and more recently their alcohol-free version- London Light.

Salcombe Brewery
Based in Kingsbridge, Salcombe Brewery began brewing their award-winning beers back in September 2016. The brewhouse is uniquely built on the site of a decommissioned water reservoir that utilises the natural ambient temperature to store the brewed beer at the perfect temperature. They also have their own borehole which supplies the brewery with its own source of Devonian water.
They have a Heritage range which represents the traditional British cask and bottled ales, a craft beer Discovery range as well as limited edition beers launched throughout the year. Their seahorse logo is a nod towards the Salcombe Estuary being one of the few places in the UK you can find the rarer of the two species. 5p of every bottle of Seahorse is donated to The Seahorse Trust to help raise funds and support the endangered creatures.
